Terms of use
Plain terms for a free Shopify app. This is not a substitute for advice from your own counsel.
Effective 30 September 2026. These terms cover 404guard.com and the 404Guard app, operated by F4 Labs.
The product
404Guard records visits to missing storefront URLs and can create Shopify URL redirects when you confirm a destination. It is free to install. There is no paid plan on the pricing page. Shopify's own terms still apply to your store and to the redirects Shopify serves.
Your store
You need a Shopify store you are allowed to manage. You choose which theme embed is enabled and which redirects are created. Redirects created in Shopify remain Shopify's until you delete them, including after you uninstall 404Guard. Check a destination before you confirm it. A match score is a text comparison, not a promise that the page is the right one.
No SEO guarantee
404Guard does not promise rankings, recovered revenue, or that every missing URL will be found. It reports visits it receives while monitoring is on. Paths nobody requests will not appear.
Public tools
The redirect checker and URL status checker are for public http and https URLs. Do not submit URLs you are not allowed to request. Do not use them to probe private networks, cloud metadata, or localhost. We block those targets and may refuse excessive checks.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the ingestion endpoint, attempt to read another store's data, or interfere with the service. We may suspend a store that abuses it.
Data
The privacy policy describes what is stored. You can delete 404 history in Settings. Uninstall stops new events. A Shopify shop deletion request removes that store's 404Guard data.
Availability and liability
The app and site are provided as available. F4 Labs is not liable for lost profits, lost traffic, or indirect damages arising from use of 404Guard, to the extent the law allows that limit. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that affects how the app treats store data, the effective date on this page will change. Continued use after that date is acceptance of the updated terms.
