Create a redirect

Open the broken URL, then Create redirect. 404Guard uses Shopify's URL redirect API. The redirect lives in Shopify, under Online Store navigation, not only inside 404Guard.

Suggested destinations

Suggestions compare the missing slug with products, collections, pages, and articles already in the store. A product path prefers product matches. You will see at most five, each with a match score. That number is string similarity. It is not a claim that a model is confident.

Search or type a path

Search destination looks up Shopify resources by title. You can also type a path, such as /collections/winter. The source and destination must differ.

Loops and chains

• If the destination already points back at the source, 404Guard blocks it: This destination is part of a redirect loop.
• If the destination itself redirects onward, you get This destination already redirects to another URL, plus Use final destination when a final path is known.

After Shopify accepts the redirect, the issue status is Redirected. If someone deletes that redirect later, the next sync marks it Open and shows Redirect no longer exists.

The Redirects page lists Shopify redirects and marks which ones 404Guard created. You can edit or delete those. Redirects created outside 404Guard are shown, not treated as owned by the app.
